Frequent LogicWorks 5 issues
This page documents frequently-asked questions about the LogicWorks 5 software.
I can’t open the circuit that my friend sent me!
Check to make sure that you are using the same version of LogicWorks 5 as your friend. LogicWorks .cct files are NOT backward compatible.
You must either piece together your circuits on a newer version of LogicWorks or redo your entire circuit in the older version of LogicWorks 5.
Make sure your team is using the same LogicWorks 5 version before starting the labs next time.
I can’t find where I saved my circuit!
If you are using the GMCS 425 computers, please refer to Saving your circuit files.
If not, please check the LogicWorks 5 folder in Program Files (x86) (on Windows).
My circuit is showing X or Z!
“X” indicates that your circuit is producing conflicting values. Check to make sure that you didn’t accidently connect separate wires together.
“Z” indicates that the signal is undergoing high impedance. There is no signal on the line. This could be because:
Your circuit is disconnected somewhere upstream.
You have a tri-state buffer that you are misusing.
I’m getting weird outputs from my part but it works fine internally!
Did you name the PORT INs the same as your PORT OUTs?
If so, make sure to give unique names to each port. Do not re-use names (e.g. call your input D0 and your output DOut0).
Make sure, after doing so, you re-create your part with the new ports. If changing the PORT OUTs or PORT INs to a unique name didn’t fix the issue, then you may have screwed up your wiring.
