Making your life easier in LogicWorks 5

This page contains tips and tricks to help you make your LogicWorks 5 experience less miserable.

Standardize your port alignments

Make sure you communicate with your partner about what order your ports should be in. A common issue in the ECC lab is having the ECC generator output be in the opposite order of the ECC decoder inputs.

To make your life and the grader’s life easier, make sure that you order your inputs and outputs for each part in the same order.

The recommended order for the ECC lab in particular is, from top to bottom: P1, P2, D3, P4, D5, D6, D7, P9, D8, D10, D11, D12, P13.

Standardize LogicWorks 5 version

LogicWorks 5 circuits are NOT backwards compatible. Make sure your team is all using the same LogicWorks 5 version before starting on the lab, or you will not be able to import your team’s newer circuits.

Save your circuit files in a visible place

Create a new folder with a memorable name (e.g. “Lab 4 Circuits”) in a visible place, like your “Documents” folder, and save your circuit in that folder.

If you are using the GMCS 425 computers, please refer to Saving your circuit files for more information.
